How many evangelicals in France
According to figures published by the CNEF, France today counts 2,530 evangelical places of worship and roughly 745,000 practicing believers. The CNEF alone represents more than 70% of France's evangelical Protestant churches, bringing together 36 church unions and 173 member associations nationwide.
On the wider Protestant side, the Protestant Federation of France (FPF) federates 26 church unions, 7 associated churches, and 12 communities, plus more than 70 associations, representing close to 500 communities, institutions, and Protestant movements across the country.
Organized around church unions
The French evangelical landscape isn't a single bloc but a collection of church unions with varying traditions: Baptist, Pentecostal, evangelical Reformed, charismatic, and communities rooted in African or Portuguese-speaking expression, among others. Each union brings together dozens to hundreds of local congregations around a shared theological outlook, while also taking part in national bodies such as the CNEF.
Spread across the whole country
The CNEF's regional network covers the entire French territory, with churches present in major cities as well as mid-sized towns and rural areas. This wide spread partly explains the variety of settings these congregations operate in: some occupy a historic building, others rent a multipurpose hall, a former retail space, or a tent for their services.
What that means for church equipment
